Silva

Izabela Silva come from a small village in the heart of Mina Gerais, Lagoa da Prata, on January 8, 1995. She moved to the city of Belo Horizonte at the age of 18 to study Cinema and Audiovisual at PUC Minas where she developed her interest in documentary cinema and feminists studies. At the university, she received a scientific initiation scholarship to carry out the “Women Behind the Cameras” research on the history of Brazilian directors, where she developed a scientific article and the project for her first feature film. She was a young jury at the 21st "Mostra de Cinema de Tiradentes - the most important film exhibition in the state of Minas Gerais and one of the most important of Brazil -, where she elected the best feature film.

 

In 2018, she moved to the city of São Paulo, where she worked in the audiovisual market as a director, editor and assistant director. Her artistic works permeate between documentary cinema and video poetry and have already been shown at national and international festivals.  She is currently living between Barcelona and Belo Horizonte which allows her next film "I am not a filmmaker", which recently received a found, for its production and finalization. In 2022 she starts a master degree about Creative Documentary at Pompeu Fabra University, Barcelona, Spain.
